Long before I was born, mummy was walking past a bric-a-brac shop in Rathmullen, County Donegal. She saw a huge door knocker that she just had to have (I think she didn’t ‘have’ to have it, but… you know what I mean).

Fruit and nut
Also on this day... Republic of Ireland are beaten 3-1 by Croatia, while defending champions Spain are held to a 1-1 draw by Italy at Euro2012.
Daddy has planted quite a few fruit trees over the last couple of years. Apples, plums, damsons and pears.
We put in a few more this winter, thanks to Andy at fruitandnut.ie and they’re growing away very well.
We chose varieties – like Beauty of Bath, D’Arcy Spice and Ardcairn Russet – that should be reasonably well suited to the cool, wet and windy climate here, but only time will tell how well they’ll do.

Carnivale of Colours
Also on this day... Thousands of people cheered on the Olympic torch relay on its first full day in Northern Ireland, travelling 126 miles between Belfast and Portrush.
I spent yesterday afternoon in Derry at the Carnivale of Colours to see Darragh perform.
We were in a big tent with a stripy ceiling and the lighting was really cool (I like lights), so I was kept amused. There was also a really funny man making everyone laugh!

My brother is really Darth Maul
Also on this day... Britain's Queen Elizabeth took to the River Thames in a special barge as part of a 1,000-boat flotilla celebrating her 60-year reign.
We went to the Carnivale of Colours in Derry yesterday where my brother Darragh was performing on stage.
He’s been involved with the North West Circus School for a while now and is very good at the diabolo.
This is his first performance with the staff and we though he was great!

My mummy
Also on this day... Voters in the Republic of Ireland have approved the EU fiscal pact, with 60.3% voting "Yes".
This is a picture of me with my mummy. My mummy looks after me like no one else. She carried me in her tummy for nine months and has fed me since I was born.
There is nothing that beats the sight, sound and smell of my mummy!

Hot sunny days at last…
Also on this day... The UK government decided to reverse its plan to impose VAT on hot Cornish pasties!
Summer seems to have arrived at last. Daddy says it’s too early, but we should enjoy it while it lasts anyway!
The average temperature in Donegal in May is 12.7° Celsius. This week we were struggling to cope with 25° Celsius – positively tropical!

Kate’s day!
Also on this day... Swedish singer Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan, with UK entry Engelbert Humperdinck finishing 25th out of 26th.
Today was Kate’s day! It’s not a day in the calendar like a birthday or Father’s Day. It was a day that we wanted to make special for Kate.
Other girls in Kate’s school were off taking their First Communion. We wanted to do something different for Kate, while still giving her a day to remember.

Seven months… I’ve survived seven months!
Also on this day... Queens Park Rangers captain Joey Barton is banned for 12 matches following a Football Association hearing - after being sent off against Man City on the final day of the season... eejit!
Those were the words daddy shouted today as we celebrated me being 7 months old.
The sun is shining, I’m having lots of fun… what could be better?

Féile Grianán Áiligh
Also on this day... Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi died at home in Tripoli, nearly three years after he was controversially freed from a Scottish prison.
We spent the afternoon at the first Féile Grianán Áiligh at An Grianán of Aileach – a ringfort built by the Uí Néill in the sixth or seventh century.
There was falconry, battle re-enactments, music and demonstrations of hurdle making, blacksmithing and more – on a chilly, but sunny afternoon.

The art of sleeping (or maybe not)
Also on this day... The Olympic flame landed in the UK on a flight from Greece, ready for the start of the London 2012 torch relay.
I was born at 6.21am and, throughout my time in my mummy’s tummy, I was more active during the night.
Now, after almost seven months, I still manage to keep mummy and daddy from sleeping a complete night by waking them up for a feed every couple of hours.
